Art Quotes:
Each month I add to my homepage a quotation by an artist that I find particularly insightful. I am using the term artist broadly to include not just visual artists, but practitioners of all art forms. As each new quotation is added, the previous months quote is moved to this page for your continued enjoyment. Clicking on the name of the artist will link you to a page about their background and art. Enjoy!
Quote for March, 2010: "Do not quench your inspiration and your imagination; do not become a slave to your model." (Vincent Van Gogh) - - - Obviously, Van Gogh believed and lived by this statement. Especially, his later and more famous works relied on the "model" for little more than inspiration. While his works were definately representational, they were infused with beauty and expression that relied entirely on his imagination. We would have missed much without his interpretation! SL
Quote for April, 2010: "If art was defined simply as the ability to draw, then my inkjet printer would be a greater artist than Michaelangelo" (Curtis Verdun)
