Artist Statement
My current passion is to create depth and interest in the painting surface. When you look at on of my paintings, I want it to glow from within, as if it was painted with glass. Further I want the painting to look different to you from every vantage point. These are new goals for me, but I have spend a great deal of time this year adjusting my color palate and developing ways to add depth, transparency and texture to my paintings.
I believe a painting is a catalyst for thought or meditation. I choose my subjects to be a springboard for deeper thought. My goal is to introduce a subject or suggest an emotion which entices a viewer to build a story around the painting. Because my intent is to plant the spark of discovery in the viewer, I really don't want my paintings to tell a complete story. Instead, I hope that each viewer can take away an experience made unique by their own participation.
